What If You Could Get Divorced Without Spending A Fortune Or Ruining Your Life?

You probably never thought you would be here. You thought when you got married that it would be forever. Now you’re staring down the barrel of an impending divorce, and you have no idea what to do. You don’t want to hurt your kids. You don’t want to lose everything you've worked so hard to build. Most, of all, you don’t want to make a mistake. Not now. The stakes are way too high. If you screw up, you could lose everything: your house, your kids, your retirement, your life (maybe not literally, but that’s sure what it feels like!). What you need is a guide: an expert who knows the road ahead and can give you a map of what’s coming so that you don’t have to go through it alone, or in the dark.

You need someone who's been down the road before and can alert you to potential problems. You need someone who can help you strategize and avoid costly mistakes so your life won’t end up turning into another divorce horror story. What you want is someone who can show you how to get divorced amicably and affordably. Yet, you're not sure if that's possible. Even if it is, you don't know how to make it happen.

You CAN get divorced without ruining your life or spending a fortune. I can help.

I'm Karen Covy. I've been a Divorce Attorney, Adviser, and Mediator for over 20 years. I'm also a Divorce Coach and the author of ...

I've been featured on television, radio, and podcasts across the country, talking about divorce. You can find my articles on divorce all over the web and on my own blog.

Over the years, I have helped thousands of people get through their divorce with dignity and respect. But, as just one person, I knew I couldn't help everyone. I also know that people today are different. People are tired of paying crazy amounts of money just to get divorced. They don't want to be taken advantage of by their spouse - or their lawyer! Yet, not all lawyers are on board with that. They do things the old way - the traditional way. Unfortunately, the traditional way to get divorced is expensive, inefficient, and doesn't make sense for anyone who wants to minimize the damage and the drama of divorce.

Your divorce lawyer isn't going to tell you everything you need to know about divorce.

The first thing most people think they should do when they're facing divorce is to get a lawyer.

In a way, that makes sense.

When you're facing the unknown and you're afraid your spouse is going to start a war, it's natural to want someone standing by your side to protect you.

But if the lawyer you choose is a gladiator, the "protection" you get will cost you dearly - and not just in the money you spend.

Gladiators don't help you keep the peace. They only start wars. So getting yourself a gladiator and "lawyering up" before you even know whether that's what you need to do, can make your divorce 100 times harder. It can also make your life after divorce 100 times harder, too. That's the part that most divorce lawyers don't tell you. The way you go through your divorce not only affects the outcome you get, but it can affect your life legally, financially and emotionally for years afterwards.

I'm not suggesting that you shouldn’t get legal advice. You absolutely should. But, you need to be smart about it. Unless you like to fight, and you don’t mind spending your kids’ college fund and your entire retirement account on lawyers’ fees, getting a lawyer involved in your divorce before you understand how the divorce process really works can be the biggest mistake you’ve ever made. Why? Because divorce lawyers make money when you fight …

It's not that all divorce lawyers are bad. But lawyers know how to "stir the pot." What's more, most lawyers aren't great at explaining anything in language that a normal human can understand. If you think that a lawyer will hold your hand and spend hours explaining to you how divorce works AND tell you what you need to do to minimize the drama and the expense in your divorce, you're kidding yourself. That's not what lawyers do. (And even if they did, at your lawyer's hourly rate, it would be a VERY EXPENSIVE education!) Lawyers go to court. They fight. That's their job.

Your education is not their responsibility.

Divorce Lawyers typically charge between $300 - $500 per hour. The more they talk, the more you pay.

If you want to get through your divorce without ending up bitter and broke, you've got to be pro-active. You've got to take control of your divorce before it starts to control you.

Unfortunately, having a lawyer isn't enough. No matter how good your lawyer is, no lawyer in the world is going to care more about your divorce or your life than you are.

(And, if your lawyer isn't good, well ...)

At the same time, trying to manage your divorce yourself, when you have no idea how divorce works, or what you're supposed to do to protect yourself and your kids, is impossible! Getting divorced is like going on a trip when you don't know where you'll be going or what you'll be doing. You have no idea what to pack. So you stand there, staring at your suitcase, immobilized because you don't know what to do. But if someone who knows how this trip is going to go came up and explained to you that you would be taking an active vacation, and spending two days at the beach, followed by two days hiking in the mountains - THEN you could pack!

You would KNOW what you were supposed to do, and you could start moving foward and doing it.

The Divorce Road Map 2.0 is the guide you've been looking for.

It's a simple, affordable, online alternative to muddling through your divorce alone or paying your divorce lawyer thousands of dollars to tell you what s/he thinks you should do.

It's private. It's practical. It's full of actionable tips and tools that you can use to save time, money and heartache in your divorce right now.

The Divorce Road Map Program gives you knowledge, strategies and tools that most lawyers would NEVER share with you.

Here are just a few things you will learn in this revolutionary new program:

  • The truth about how the divorce system works so that you can use the system FOR you, instead of having it used AGAINST you;
  • The 5 different ways you can get divorced and, MORE IMPORTANTLY, how you can choose the way that’s right for you;
  • How property is divided and how to figure out if spousal support may be an issue in your divorce (... and how to deal with it if it is!);
  • How to establish your divorce goals and develop a plan for your divorce so that you have a better chance of getting what you really want and need;
  • How to save time and money by gathering your financial information properly;
  • How taxes can affect your bottom line in divorce;
  • How to effectively negotiate with your spouse (because you're probably going to end up having to do that whether you want to or not!) ... and more!

If you have kids, you will also learn:

  • How to deal with and decide parenting issues and parenting schedules;
  • How child support and the payment of your kids' expenses work;
  • How to minimize the impact of your divorce on your kids.

If you have an attorney, you will also learn:

  • How to find, hire AND MANAGE your divorce attorney so that you get the most bang for your buck.

You will also learn a simple 10 step FRAMEWORK that will give you a ROAD MAP through your divorce from start to finish. Using this Road Map you will be able to KNOW where you’re at every step of the way in your divorce. You will know what you need to do next. You will be able to plan and prepare for each step in your divorce BEFORE it happens. This insight, and the ability to plan ahead, will give you far more control over your life - even during divorce! It can make the difference between a divorce that goes reasonably well, and one that costs a fortune, drags on for years, and puts unbelievable pressure on you and your kids!

Here's What People Are Saying About The Divorce Road Map Program And Karen Covy

"Thanks again for a phenomenal program. You offer hope and practical advice that one can divorce with dignity, no matter what is thrown at them . . . and a reminder that one needs to plan for life after divorce as well. Such great reminders and wisdom --which is hard to remember when one is the fog of divorce. Your program is a spotlight that cuts through that fog, and shines a light on the way out. "

"This was the best ... investment I have ever made, and should be REQUIRED reading for anyone at any stage of the divorce process - particularly at the beginning. Somehow she has managed to tailor the content to both parties to a divorce; no small feat for sure. (I would have saved thousands of dollars that I spent on the attorney I now have on retainer as a “consultant” since my husband and I are trying not to litigate!)

This course provides a much needed high level - yet content rich - overview on the whole divorce process regardless of state, which is quite overwhelming. Karen’s calming, reassuring tone throughout this course - which is FULL of practical advice lawyers often will not tell you - helped me get to a place where I can move forward with more confidence. Although I know things will get harder before they get easier, having Karen’s material to refer back to will certainly help keep me focused and on the right track."

"When I first dove into Karen's course, I didn't really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how complete and detailed her information was. Karen answered every question I would have asked an attorney (at $300/hr by the way) and even more that I would have never thought of asking. Karen's communication style is clear and her empathy made my feel that everything was going to be ok which is so important for couples facing divorce." -K.S.

"Karen, I want to thank you for guiding me through the most horrific period of my life. I appreciate your advice, your professionalism, and your compassion. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me and treating me like a person, not just a client."

"THANK YOU for sharing so much information! My divorce was final a couple of weeks ago. Yes, divorce is hard, costs more, and takes longer than you expect.

... Thank you for being an amazing resource! We ended up using a variety of methods to keep the divorce moving forward - worked together collaboratively, negotiated using 4-way meetings, and ended up hiring a retired judge to help mediate the last major issue (maintenance). I do believe that your information helped me be a better client and work better with my attorney."

"In my experience, you will not get this kind of detailed, specific information in your first consultation with a lawyer. Save your money, purchase Ms. Covy’s program first and educate yourself on the different divorce processes. You will then have a better idea of what divorce process you want to use, and be better able to assess whether or not that lawyer will help you reach your goals." -Anon

"I appreciated the organization of this ... breaking down the 7 different ways of a divorce process. It clarified some questions I had about the specifics of collaborative vs cooperative for example. And the shortfalls of on-line DIY divorce. I continue to get a clearer picture of what to expect from the process, and that is helpful and empowering." -Anon

"I found the Road Map very helpful. In fact, since I was prepared with items needed we were able to reach a settlement quickly. My divorce was final with one court date." -Anon

"I was surprised at how comprehensive the progam and the paperwork that comes with it are! I really like that I can go back and listen to things again and I again."

If you want the best outcome possible in your divorce, you've got to take control.

So How Does the Divorce Road Map 2.0 Work?

Once you sign up for the Divorce Road Map 2.0 you will get access to a library of videos that will walk you through the entire divorce process, step by step. You will also discover the proprietary Divorce Road Map Framework, which will give you the ability to understand where you're at in your own divorce every step of the way so that you are able to make the best, most educated decisions in your divorce.

You can watch these videos anywhere you want, any time you want, and as many times as you want for a full year. Every video is clearly labeled so you will know what each video is about, and how long it will last.

You don't have to go to a lawyer's office to get this information. You don't have to scour the internet, hoping that what you're reading is accurate.

The videos in the Divorce Road Map 2.0 are all brand new and up-to-date.

You will also get my personal checklists, worksheets, and spreadsheets that you can download and use in your own divorce to keep you organized and on task. Those are the tools no lawyer normally shares with a client.

This Road Map will put you the driver’s seat in your divorce. It is full of totally "do-able" actionable steps that you can take to get through your divorce with more clarity and control.

You won't have to wonder what you're supposed to do next.

You'll know.

It is unlike anything you'll get from even the best divorce attorneys. (And we won't even talk about what you'll get from the worst ones!)

When most people walk into a lawyer's office, the only thing they know about divorce is that they're getting one. That makes them easy prey for lawyers who tell them what they want to hear just to get them to hire them. Then, once the lawyer is hired, it's often hard to even get him/her to answer a phone call! If you KNOW how divorce works, and what to look for in a divorce attorney BEFORE you hire one, you will be in a way better position to judge whether what the attorney is telling you makes sense for you (or not!). You will walk in as an educated consumer, not a naive wreck. That alone can save you thousands of dollars in legal fees AND save you from the pain and problems you will get if you choose the wrong divorce lawyer. Sure, you can change lawyers mid-stream. But doing that's expensive. It's nerve-wracking and time consuming. And sometimes, it's not possible. The Divorce Road Map 2.0 gives you the information you need to know BEFORE you hire an attorney. As the saying goes, failing to plan is planning to fail.

No one should go through a divorce alone.

Divorce Road Map 2.0: Basic

This is the program for the budget-conscious divorcing person who doesn't have kids, isn't going to be using a lawyer, and may be thinking about doing a DIY divorce. It covers the basics, and will help you understand how you can get through your divorce and deal with money issues.

The Divorce Road Map Framework - One of the most frustrating things about divorce is not understanding how it works or where you're at in the divorce process.

Lawyers almost never explain all the steps you will need to go through to get divorced when you're first starting (or ever!). The result is, you go through your entire divorce without really understanding what's going on, or what's next.

So you make mistakes and do things you shouldn't do because you don't know where you're at and what you're supposed to be doing! In this module I will share my simple, 10 step framework that I call Your Divorce Road Map.

This road map will clearly show you what ALL the steps in divorce are, so you can know where you're at, and what you need to do to get your divorce finished.

How to Get Divorced - What most people don't learn until it's too late is that the WAY you get divorced has a tremendous effect on the outcome you get.

Plenty of people have heard about mediation and Collaborative Divorce, but their ideas about how those processes work is totally wrong.

In this module you will discover what Mediation, Litigation, Collaborative Divorce and other divorce processes are and how they work. Most importantly, you will discover how you can choose the divorce process that will be best for you and your family.

Divorce and Your Money - Making money mistakes in your divorce can put you in a financial hole for years after your divorce.

That's why understanding how money works in divorce is critical for your future financial security.

In this module, you will learn what you need to know to protect your finances in divorce. You will discover how to divide property and debt in divorce, and how taxes can affect your financial bottom line.

You will also learn about spousal support, and how to determine whether that will be an issue in your divorce.

Divorce Road Map 2.0: Complete

This is the program for anyone who has kids or is (or may be) using a lawyer. This program gives you all of the basics. PLUS you will get detailed information about how to find, hire and manage your lawyer, and how to handle the divorce issues that involve your kids - like custody, parenting and support.

Kids and Divorce - If you're a parent, making sure your kids are okay is probably one of your biggest concerns about divorce.

In this comprehensive module you will discover how to make a parenting schedule and a parenting plan that really work for you and your kids! You will get a clear understanding of how custody and parenting time work.

You will also learn how to help your kids transition to their new family in a healthier way.

Divorce Lawyers - More and more people today are trying to save money in their divorce by NOT using a lawyer.

While doing that is a good option for some people, for others it can be a complete disaster.

In this module you will find out how you can decide whether you need a divorce lawyer, and where to find one if you do. You will also learn how to interview divorce lawyers effectively, and you will get your own "cheat sheet" of questions you can bring with you to every lawyer interview.

Most importantly, you will discover how you can manage your divorce lawyer once s/he is hired so that you can save time and money in your divorce.

This is definitely the most supported way you can get through your divorce. (Just remember, I can't give you legal advice! But I can coach you through your divorce and be your sounding board and guide as you go!)

In short, with me by your side, you'll know you have someone with you in your divorce who has your back.

Nothing about divorce is easy or cheap. I'd be lying if I told you otherwise. Divorce lawyers charge between $300 - $500 per hour. Their initial retainer can be anywhere from $2,500 - $10,000. And that's just the start! They bill by the hour until your retainer is spent. Then they ask you for more. The key to keeping your divorce costs under control, then, is to limit the amount of time your lawyer has to spend on your case. The more time your lawyer spends on your case, the more money you have to pay to get it done. The Divorce Road Map 2.0 will show you how you can save hours and hours of your attorney's time - and your money - in divorce. Of course, if you don't use a lawyer, you don't have to pay legal fees. But, since you probably have no idea how the divorce system works you're likely to waste hours and hours of your own time trying to figure it out. Even if you have the time to spend, you've still got to get all the details of your divorce right. Otherwise, you may spend more money AFTER your divorce trying to fix the mistakes that got made because you didn't have an attorhey doing it right for you the first time. The Divorce Road Map 2.0. will help guide you through your divorce - whether you have an attorney or not! It's easy to use, easy to understand, and full of practical tips and tools that can help you get through your divorce in a much more effective, efficient and civilized way. There are 3 different versions of the Divorce Road Map 2.0:

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?

The program starts as soon as you enroll, and lasts for a full year. You will have instant access to over 10 hours of videos, conveniently labeled and broken down into 8 - 28 minute sections. So, you can watch just what you need on the fly. Or, you can binge-watch the whole thing in one day!

How long do I have access to the course?

After enrolling, you will have unlimited access to this program on all of your devices for one full year. If you need access longer, no problem. Just let us know and we will do our best to make sure that you get access for as long as you need.

What if I am unhappy with the course?

We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.

If I buy this program, do I still need an attorney?

This program is full of awesome, useful information, that will help you whether you have an attorney or not. For obvious reasons, it can't give you specific legal advice about your divorce. The only way you can get that kind of advice is one-on-one from a divorce attorney in your area. But the information you get int his program will help you manage and deal with your attorney.

Will I will get everything I want in my divorce if I buy the Divorce Road Map 2.0?

Boy, do I wish I had that kind of power! Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in life, or in divorce. What I can tell you is that, if you follow all of the steps in this program, you will know what you need to do to get what you want and need (which is more than half the battle!). But, no one can guarantee that you will get absolutely everything you want in your divorce. (... and if they say they can do that for you - run!)

Is this program good no matter what state I live in?

Yes! Even though divorce law varies from state to state, the way divorce works in all states follows essentially the same pattern. Knowing that pattern will give you an advantage no matter where you live. Plus, divorce involves so much more than just the law! It involves emotions, finances, real estate, taxes, kids and more. The Divorce Road Map Program will help you understand how to deal with all of those areas of your divorce.

Is this program good outside of the United States?

No. While many things will probably be useful to you no matter where you live, I designed this course specifically for U.S. residents. I can't promise that this program will be as valuable to you if you live elsewhere.

What if I am unhappy with the program?

I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.

I don't want my spouse to know I signed up for anything about divorce. What will show up on my credit card?

I understand completely. That's why all you will see on your credit card are letters that don't spell anything. (I would tell you what those letters are, but then, if your spouse were to see this page, that wouldn't be good, would it?!) What's important is that the words "divorce," "divorce lawyer," "divorce coach," "Karen Covy," etc. will NOT show up on your credit card.

Divorce doesn't have to ruin your life. It will change it.

The rest is up to you.
